Illinois Lawmakers Request Halt to Pre-Claim Demonstration
Last week Illinois lawmakers published a letter to Andy Slavitt, acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requesting a delay of the pre- claim demonstration following the delay of the launch in Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan and Texas.
This request from Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Mark Kirk (R-IL) and the entire Illinois Delegation comes after a rocky couple months for providers in the state following the August 3 launch. According to a piece in Home Health Care News, agencies have reported high non-confirmation rates for their pre-claim submissions, burdensome and time-consuming administrative demands and inconsistent results since the demonstration got underway.
In addition to these efforts a bipartisan group of legislators introduced a new bill to congress requesting a one-year moratoria on the expansion of this demonstration. CHAP will continue to release updates as they are made available.
