CMS Releases Clarification Surrounding Contact Requirements
In a recent issue of MLN Matters, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) highlighted changes to the contact requirements and certification statement signature requirements. These updates are a result of recent revisions to the “Medicare Program Integrity Manual.
As part of the update, a signed certification statement is required to accompany all paper CMS-855 applications, which an agencies Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC) will only accept if the signature date is within 120 days of the receipt date of the application.
In addition, MACs will now accept end dates for contact persons until the CMS-855 form can be updated to delete contact persons.
For more information agencies can contact their MAC directly.
