Proposed Federal Budget Cuts, Significant Impact to Home Health
Earlier this week President Trump released his proposed budget for the 2018 fiscal year. The budget includes cuts to Medicaid as well as changes in the way states receive support from the federal government. The cuts would impact home health industry.
In the 2018 proposed budget, roughly $616 billion dollars would be cut from Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). These cuts are in addition to the approximately $800 billion in Medicaid cuts proposed in the House passed American Healthcare Act (AHCA).
According to a piece in Home Health Care News, while the cuts are cause for concern, there is some positive news. The proposed budget does not include direct cuts to Medicare and the budget has included $127 million to directly address the Medicare appeals backlog.
