Senate Finance Committee Approves CHRONIC Care Act
The Senate Finance Committee recently approved the Creating High-Quality Results and Outcomes Necessary to Improve Chronic (CHRONIC) Care Act (S. 870) of 2017, which is designed to improve health outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries living with chronic diseases by expanding access to telehealth services.
As CHAP has previously reported, the CHRONIC Care Act has the potential to extend the Independence at Home (IAH) Demonstration and allow Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) to include telehealth services for homecare.
While there is no immediate plan to bring S. 870 to the Senate for a full vote passage through the Finance Committee was an important and necessary step. CHAP will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they are made available.
