CMS Releases Proposed Home Health Payment Plan

Earlier this week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued their proposed prospective payment system (PPS) rate update for 2018. This new plan proposes decreased reimbursement for home health agencies, and introduces the home health groupings model (HHGM) which is scheduled to be implemented in 2019.

According to Home Health Care news, HHGM could pose a threat to home health agencies. Under this model the current 60-day care unit of payment would transition to a 30-day period beginning January 1, 2019.  According to CMS, these changes will not impact access to care for Medicare beneficiaries.

This ruling will be published on the Federal Register on Friday, July 28th.
